Diatomee

Diatoms are single-celled algae with a silica skeleton that live in both marine and
freshwater environments. They consist of two parts: an upper one (theca) is larger,
flattened, more or less convex, and covers the lower one like the lid of a box.
I built these stainless steel forms using the latest modern technology, laser cutting
of the sheet metal, molded doming with a hydraulic press, and TIG molecular
welding. Viewed from underneath, the slats are also reminiscent of certain
mushrooms in the woods….
